From Disney&Pixar, A Mystical Movie: Soul

 

Disney&Pixar's spiritual animation movie Soul is a totally amazing project.Firstly, it's target audience is not only kids.There are so many points that children cannot understand easily in the movie.

There are two significant places.One is the great before,and the other is the great beyond.Our lead role Joe Gardner suddenly falls into a hole in the ground and he is supposed to die.He has to go to the great beyond.But he finds himself in the great before by accident.Here, souls-they look like a blue drop of water- are trying to find their "sparkles".A sparkle refers to a spesific purpose of living.When they explore their souls,they become ready to go to Earth.However,do our passions and deepest desires become clear before we come to the Earth?

Every single soul who dies is counted by Terry.One day Terry says "count is off".One person who is supposed to die didn't go to the Great Beyond,which refers to afterlife.Actually Joe doesn't want to die and tries to turn back to the Earth a few times.He was a jazz musician on Earth and meets a soul called "22" in great before and helps 22 to find her sparkle.22 doesn't want to live on Earth and Joe needs to persuade her.

There is an interesting point in the film, "lost souls". Lost souls are the ones that have lost their ways in anxiety and unhappiness.They look pure black and frightening.Some mystic souls help them to heal.It's nice for film to include such kind of melancholia.

Towards the final,we find out what "sparkle" really means.Souls find their sparkles when they feel ready to start living.In the end Joe is given another chance to go back to the earth and Jerry says "ı hope you'll watch your steps from now on."

Overall, "Soul" is a mystical and sentimental movie.It's definitely worth watching to remember that our lives end eventually and we must enjoy every single second.
